WEATHER REPORT OFFICIAL (Far Thursday. Nev. 8, 1962) about 400 miles southwest of Kodiak movting eastward into the gulf. High pressure continues over the Rockies and extends westward to Northern California, then southwestward through a high center about 500 miles west of Los Angeles. Rain is occurring along the Washington coast with considerable cloudiness southward along the Oregon and California coasts, and local fog is reported south of San Francisco.

NATIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY Extensive cloudiness caused by a storm north of the Great Lakes and its southward trailing frontal zone was found from the Gulf States northward through the Great Lakes region and eastward to the Appalachians. A band of steady light rain and a few thundershowers broke out to the rear of the front from extreme eastern Texas through most of Arkansas into western parts of Tennessee and Kentucky. Further north, widely scattered showers fell through the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes regions with the rain turning to snow in the colder air streaming southward over the upper Great Lakes. Skies were the rule from the Plains westward to the Pacific Coast and along coastal sections of the Middle North Atlantic States as huge high-pressure cenhers off the Mid-Atlantic Coast and over the Central Rockies controlled the weathAn exception was a patch of clouds that began moving into the Pacific Northwest late in the day as a weak front toward the shoreline.
