“Hey, I’m back!” says Charlie opening the door of his room with a tone that express both peacefulness and mild tiredness.
Today was his first day at the part-time job that he got in a café. Thankfully, everything went just fine.
“Welcome back, darling!” exclaimed with joy his golden-retriever-boyfriend Nick.
He got up from the floor, letting fall a bunch of different sheets and pillows, arising various question for Charlie.
He lets himself be kissed gently by the boy just to see him get back to where he was when he first got in the room, fumbling with some covers.
“Uhm, Nick?” asks quizzically Charlie.
“Yes, love?” he immediately replied without turning back to look at him, continuing on with his mysterious work.
“What are you exactly doing right now?” he approaches gently the boy looking more and more curious.
“Oh! I’m building a pillow fort for us!” he exclaimed like it was obvious.
As if now everything finally made sense to the bewildered looking guy behind him.
“May I ask you why?” was the inevitable question that followed.
“To celebrate your first day at the café! You know, I was extremely proud of you when you told me that you wanted to try to find a job to the point that I came to the realization that you deserved a chill yet memorable night afterwards so I thought of things you enjoy and number one on the list was sleeping which lead me to think comfy, and what is more comfy than a pillow? So yeah, pillow fort, tada!” Nick ended his speech with jazz hands towards his undone creation, perhaps it needed a little bit of help to be perfect.
“It’s lovely darling, thank you so much for this oh my god you’re the best boyfriend in the world did you know that?” Charlie tears up at the view of his gorgeous boyfriend proudly showing the thing made with care and love solely for him.
He hugged him tight.
In return, the taller boy hugged him back while curling a finger softy through his hair, softly kissing his forehead to try and make him smile, succeeding.
“You can show your gratitude by helping me by finishing it all, what do you say?” encourages him while the curly headed boy wiped away his tears.
“And here I thought I was going to be treated like a valuable prince, ready to take a royal nap beside my big and strong fellow warrior.” exaggerates Charlie, with one hand on his face to make the improvised monologue even more theatrical.
“I think you’ve mixed up two completely different scenarios here Char.” the other boy giggles a reply.
“Shut up and let’s make this pillow fort happen.” was the last response.
They bickered back and forth while adding pillows and covers where they would fit without falling.
Shockingly, in less than thirty minutes they were done and the final result looked-
“Amazing.” whispered both boys simultaneously, in awe of how simple bed supplies could create such a lovely view.
Nick lowers a blanket to let Charlie in, only to discover that he had already put inside decorative lights, a computer, a massive fuzzy duvet and two cushions for them to sit on.
“What do you think?” he gives him a shyly smile while waiting for his reaction.
Instead of talking, he simply kisses him with all the passion he can manage to express until they needed to break off to catch some air.
Clearly, he quite liked what he saw in there.
“You really made all of this for me?” asks rhetorically the boy who was about to cry for the third time that day.
“Nah, the guy I cheat you on with bailed on me so I made up all of that background story so you won’t be pissed off and all my work wouldn’t have been a waste after all.” replied the blonde haired boy with a mischievous smirk.
Charlie reaches for the nearest pillow he can find and throws it at his face, aiming perfectly for once satisfied.
A pillow fight starts to take place, between giggles and a lot of swearing they almost forgot that they had a movie night planned, hence the computer.
Once they finally got to a truce, Nick lets Charlie pick the movie since it was his celebration after all.
They ended up watching a show instead that caught their eyes instantly by reading solely the plot, called Young Royals.
“I’m officially obsessed with the actor who plays Simon.” is the first word that Nick says once episode one comes to an end.
“Likewise for me with the actor who plays Wilhelm.” adds Charlie, gaping for how intrigued he was after just one episode, immediately begging to watch all of it in one sitting.
Nick simply nodded sharing equal interest.
It goes without saying that once the final credits starts rolling they both were in tears for obvious reasons.
They took a look at each other with teary puffy eyes and started to laugh at each other lovingly.
“You know, I’d like to think that in another universe we’d be Wilhelm and Simon. Except maybe they’d get their very much deserved happy ending.” chuckles Nick, once again breaking the silence between them.
“Is that why you have a crush on Simon? Because he reminds you of me? You’re so lame, god.” jokes Charlie while playing with his hair, laying down on him.
“Hey! Is that so bad that I’d love you in any alternate reality?” smiles down at him, committing every single detail of his face to memory from his current position.
God, I really am lame, he thinks to himself.
“It’s not bad, it’s cheesy and I honestly don’t think you’d actually fall in love with me again if you knew from the start what you were getting into.” says while looking away embarrassed.
“Hey, how many times do I have to tell you that I love all of you, not just the happy moments we share? I love taking care of you when you let me, I love being able to see you grow with each little step you take, I mean look at you now, you have a job! As a person who has never worked in his life, I am so proud and envious of you!” making the sad boy smile a little.
“I’d fall in love with your smile, your cute dimples, your hair, your laugh, your kind soul and for the way you make me feel loved over and over again. I love you Charlie Spring, and I will never stop loving you. Not anytime soon, I can assure you that.” following a gentle kiss on the happily crying boy’s forehead for comfort, he receives a hug back.
He hugs him as tightly as humanly possible.
“I love you too Nick Nelson, so f*cking much.” cries out Charlie, trying to compose himself whilst his boyfriend is drawing circles with his fingers calmly on his back.
They ended up falling asleep like this, holding each other with dried tears on both of their eyes and secretive smiles that won’t leave their faces until morning.
